2006/5/17 the perfumeDon't be distracted by the beautiful title. What I want to talk about here is a film that I
 expect most, besides "the Da Vinci Code" and "X-men III", in 2006. The full name of it is "perfume: the story of a murderer", an adaptation of a novel of the German writter, Patrick Süskind, of the same name. I was 15 years when I bought the novel. I just picked it and paid directly at the cashier without reading the preface or introduction 'cause, as you all know, I was, and I still am obsessed by perfume. But after read the book for the first time, I was quite shocked. How could someone be such ... a freak to creat a "being" like the protagonist?! The story is about a man gifted of an extraordinary sense of smell, capable of recognise every odor and with an unbelievable talent of creating perfumes. But he himself, unfortunately, has no odor. He is crazy for making a perfect perfume, and that's what leads him to serial cruel murders.
Sounds a little familiar? Yeah, later on I just found something that it shared in common with another famous German novel, the Nobel winner Gunter Grass's "The Tin Drum". I can't tell which one is better, nevertherless, I'm sure that the ending of "the perfume" will surprise you all.
an anecdote, both Ridly Scott and Stanley Kubrick intended to shoot the movie, but finally an intelligent German director, Tom Tykwer got to make it. I like the last one a lot for his innovative work "Run, Lola, Run".
